Vivi felt conspicuous the moment they stepped in. She drew her arms in close to her, following so close behind Robin she may as well have been attached to her. She traced the warp of the wood in the table, keeping her eyes on the woman with the pitcher at first, then slowly building up the confidence to look more closely at the other patrons of the bar. If she hadn't already known, it would take nothing more than a glance at these men to tell Vivi that they really were in the worst part of town.
She was unsure whether to stare back at them, as they all seemed to be staring at her and Robin now, especially now that the fancy, overfull purse had come out. In the end Vivi decided against it - she didn't want to start any trouble now, at least until they were outside.
Once out, she followed Robin slowly back down the alley, being very careful not to look behind them, listening instead for a pursuer. It wasn't long before scuffled footsteps drew near. The first ran straight past her, blocking the exit to the alley, a smile glinting across his face as he sized up both of them, thinking them completely defenseless. Vivi turned to see the majority of the scum from the bar forming a semicircle behind them, all eager to be the first to get their hands on the purse, and perhaps other things that Vivi didn't want to think about.
The raucous laughter and yelling that had drawn them towards the bar was completely silenced now, but the music still played on from the den den mushi, echoing uninterrupted through the alley, sounding far too cheerful now.
