[She awoke to a nightmare. To say Robin's vision swam would be to give it far too much credit- she'd been powerless in water since she was young, and there didn't exist a cell in her body that knew how to swim. Her eyes opened to a blurry, diffuse world. The overwhelming sound of waves crashing against the shore, she realized after a moment, was actually the sound of her own blood rushing in her head. It gave her a moment of reprieve from the terror, for she was, indeed, drowning quite nicely at the bottom of the sea.
All the energy Robin still had she tried to channel into reaching for the surface with her arms or thrusting against the current with her... fin?
Pause. Evaluate.
When... how... did that get there? More importantly, did it imply an ability to breathe underwater? Because that would come in handy about now. Robin took a small, experimental breath- and promptly choked. The ensuing struggle against natural consequences somehow resulted in her lungs filling with air. She dropped her hands, which she'd covered her mouth with to prevent inhaling more sea-water, and ran them down her sides. Small gills had grown into the lower section of Robin's ribcage. As long as she kept herself in motion, she could breathe.
Robin swam for the surface feeling much calmer, now, full of wonder and abject confusion. Was this some strange effect of going to Fishman Island? Or perhaps she'd run afoul of some odd Devil's Fruit user? The last month and a half was blurry in her memory. She didn't know where she was, nor how she'd arrived. The last she remembered was sailing East Blue to meet with Luffy's Father...
No.
There was more after that. Not a lot more, but more. A quaint mountain village, snowbound, surrounded by forest. Nakama, but not all of them. Artificially implanted wings, a war she'd likely be forced to fight in, and fearful whispers of experiments. Luceti.
Robin sought, and found, her journal near the shoreline. It was somehow waterproofed. She opened to her posting page and pushed the audio button.]
Here's a new look for fellow fashionistas: bird wings paired with fish tails. Seems the Malnosso are fans of mixing genres.
So, has anyone set up camp near the sea yet? It'll be a bit dull, waiting out the effects of this particular experiment on my own.
